What's is WhatsUpHutch.com ??
It's very simple, we are a Hutchinson, KS online magazine. OK, go back and read it again. We are a magazine, not a News source!!
Wehave links at the bottom of every page to a News Source. We willprovide you with information and opinions but don't come to us wantingto know when election day is or to check out the property value of yourneighbor's house.
It all started becausewe thought Hutchinson, KS really was cool enough (not the coolest ever,just cool enough) to have a magazine, a place for discussion, a placeto share thoughts and opinions, a place to find out SOME of the coolstuff that just happened and maybe get a heads up on SOME cool stuff tocome. Notice we said SOME we are not gonna be a complete source ofeverything Hutch. We are gonna be a cool source for SOME things Hutch.
Here's a little run down of what is available.
The menu is toward the top.
1. Readsis the first option - This is opinions/columns/letters to the editor, whatever you want to call it. We will have some regular columnistshere, as well as guest columnists and a place for you to write in ifyou have something to say. Each one will have a place for comments. Wewill deal with comments at the bottom of this page, but quickly, therule on comments is don't let anonymity give you a horrible personalityyou wouldn't have or let out in real life.
2. Channelsis next - Channels is where you can learn something. Or teachsomething!! We are starting out with 1 channel: Tech Tips. We will addmore!! Send suggestions if you dare. We have some in mind, just don'twant to overextend ourselves.
Tech tips will be allabout things everyday people can do to adopt a little technology inthere lives. It will not be high speed millionaire jet set tech things.It will be things anyone with a cell phone or a computer can do to helpthemselves be just a little more productive or entertained or ...entertaining. More Channels to come, we promise. Again, comments there,don't be a jacka%$!
3. Do This!is the next menu option - Do this! is our staff's and hopefully ourreader's suggestions on what you can do in the very immediate future.It is not a listing of everything you could do, it is a suggestion fromus. That's it!! We do promise, no one will ever be able to pay us toput their event in there. 4. Community Blogis next in line - if you sign up to be a member, (free and always willbe, no spam and we will protect your info) you can submit your own blogpost to feed the community blog. We realize exactly what we are openingourselves up to. We will edit it, if need be. PLEASE Remember this isour site, we want a lot of free open discussion, but we will nottolerate crap we all know is out of line, off topic, vulgar or just spam. 5. Hutchepedia is next, it's our source of stuff, maybe not the most interesting stuff to just sit down by the fire, but stuff that when you need it, it will be there!

Rightbelow the menu on the left side is a local ad - we gotta make some $$$$- we promise the ad space we have now will be the only ad space we everhave. Hopefully!?!?!
Right below themenu on the right is the place you log-in or become a member. Lot's ofstuff to do in there. Try it. You can always quit if it is too muchwork for you.

Picof the week - If this website works it will grow to be pic of the day;we just want cool Hutch pics here. We have a stockpile, and willcontinuing to expand it, but you can submit pics as well. Just clickhere!
Video of the week - Same as pics, except to submit, click here!
Buythis - This is a cool little module where we show you cool things youcan buy on Amazon. No pressure, just suggestions. We get a 4% cut ifyou buy after clicking through our site, just so you know.
Don't Be Bored - This is our staff picked, next coolest thing to go do in Hutch. Kinda like Do This!!! But kinda different!!
On The Right you have:
Latest Columns - Again, if that doesn't make sense to you, slowly turn the computer and go get some Play-doh!
TechTip - This will be a different tech tip from the column. We are gonnatry and change it daily, no promises. Again, our tech tips are for theeveryday Joe in Hutchinson, KS. If you are a bad ass techie nerd, don'tdegrade our tips; they aren't for you.
Do Gooders. - This is a place for non-profits to state their case, ask forvolunteers, tell you about a fund-raiser, just have a voice.
Our Survey- We will put a survey there. Sometimes fun, sometimes serious,sometimes with prizes or consequences. Never, ever, ever, scientific.
Ok, if you are still reading this, obviously you must think the rest of our website sucks, but we will keep typing.

Tothe right of that is a list of who's on the site right now. Then belowthat is a national ad. We don't really know if we are gonna keep those.
At the very bottom is another NationalAd, Our RSS feeds (if you don't know what RSS is we will cover it in aTech Column or just click here. ) and then we feed in the latest headlines from the Hutch News. Comments: There is places to leave comments all over the place, if you don't show some human decency and respect, we will delete you, period!! Hope that covers it all for you, if not let us know here!!
