This last Third Thursday was incredible, there was legitimately thousands of people moving around in downtown Hutch. It’s a tremendous event that the organizers should be proud of and all of us in Hutch should grateful for and help promote. (seriously... even if you don’t go help spread the word and make it better, it is really developing our sense of community here in Hutch)
But, I have a question, it’s almost a gripe but I wanna have a discussion with you guys about it before I make it a gripe.
Why are SO many businesses closed when that many people are roaming around down there?
(Please refrain from blasting them and calling them names... let’s genuinely talking through this one? Ok?)
The Whatsuphutch ( & LogicMaze ) offices have officially moved. We are now at 14 W 6th in Hutchinson.
That's a pretty boring article I know....
But... it's kinda invigorating! (That word makes me feel weird, I don't ever use it in my vocabulary, but it seemed to fit.) Just the simple act of getting into some new space has made me a little more excited to come to work and kick butt and make WUH better and help LogicMaze's clients and just Rock and Roll a little bit more.
Sometimes I just need something like that.
What invigorates you...? What kinda shot in the rear do you need every once in a while to to get back on track and continue making things better for you and yours?
I have been thinking alot about community, not just my community (Hutchinson, Ks) but all communities in America. Not even just small sized communities but neighborhoods in Big Cities as well. I think we need them back in big way. In fact I think they are one of the key answers to the bulk of the our Country's main issues.
First off I guess we should discuss if we all agree that Community has died alot in the last several decades? Do we agree on that... if not discuss in comments.
Basically its a very cool project that brought some awesome positive coverage of our downtown all over the state.
If you are interested here is the Publik Bike Projekt facebook page that will be a great place to keep up on whats going on with the project.
I do have one little beef that I can't keep from venting and I know it's maybe pointless and I know it may not accomplish anything... but I got no discipline.
First off... I have too many friends on Facebook in some peoples opinion. As of writing this I have 1087 "Friends" on Facebook. I use it a little differently than it was intended.. in 2 ways.
1. I really like actually meeting new people that actual real world friends suggest. I like discussing and learning from people I don't already know and Facebook is a great tool for that. Facebook was meant to reconnect with "In-person" friends... but I found another way I like to use it.
2. I spend a decent amount of my time at my job advising businesses on how to use the internet to market themselves... and being aware of all Facebook has to offer is a part of that so I am on it quite a bit making sure I have a fairly full book of knowledge about it.
Let's pretend your home town is your kid... or your weird relative
if you don't have kids.
You love your kids right?? Of Course! But... if they still live at home, you are still molding them right, still working on the kinks they have cause they are kids. They aren't perfect, in fact they do some ridiculous things that make you wanna box their ears, right, but... you love them, so you are cool with putting out the effort to teach/mold them how to do things.
