Free Program about Native Threads exhibit Thursday Night at 7 at the Library PDF Print E-mail

“Native Threads” ,an exhibit of quilts created by Native American quilt makers in Kansas, will be on display on the mezzanine of the Hutchinson Public Library beginning Monday, August 18th.

 

In conjunction with the exhibit the public is invited to an opening program on Thursday, August 21st, at 7:00pm in the Library auditorium. Jerry Shaw a member of the Osage Nation and instructor in the Department of Ethnic Studies at Wichita State University will present a program entitled “Understanding Native Identity.”

 

Jerry Shaw is part of the Kansas Humanities Council Speaker’s Bureau. “Native Threads is organized by the Kansas Arts Commission and toured by Exhibits USA, a national program of the Mid America Arts Alliance.

 

The exhibit and program are sponsored by the Hutchinson/Reno Arts and Humanities Council and the Hutchinson Public Library.
