Think of eating breakfast as giving yourself a gift! You are treating yourself right and getting your day off to a healthy start. For tomorrow’s gift, try one of the easy and tasty menu ideas below! 

 

Breakfast Menu Ideas

 

A balanced breakfast can be any combination of choices from at least 3 food groups. (Dairy, Meat/Beans, Fruit, Vegetable, Grains) 

 

 

  • Raisin toast with peanut butter and sliced banana, low-fat milk
  • Low-fat cheese melted on a whole wheat tortilla, berries, low-fat milk
  • Tuna fish sandwich, tomato slices, low-fat milk
  • Quick-cook hot cereal, cinnamon applesauce, low-fat milk
  • Low-fat yogurt mixed with sliced peaches and ready-to-eat cereal
  • Scrambled eggs, orange juice, whole wheat toast, low-fat milk
  • Macaroni and cheese, green or red pepper slices, sliced pears

Vary your veggies! What a great slogan to help you think about eating a greater variety and more servings of veggies daily.

They say variety is the spice of life, so are your veggie choices adding spice to yours? If not, here are some great tips!
  • When grocery shopping, choose a rainbow of veggie colors to put in your basket! Look for:
o deep greens-- kale, broccoli, zucchini
o rich reds-red peppers, radishes, beets
o warm yellows and oranges-rutabagas, winter squash, sweet corn
o vibrant blues and purples-eggplant, purple carrots, purple cabbage
o wonderful whites-cauliflower, jicama, mushrooms
