Hey, I'm Salthawk Kid, I am an 11 year old girl in Hutchinson, Ks and I'm going to write an article for you every week.  No, my real name is not Salthawk Kid, but the editor here at whatsuphutch.com won't let me put my real name, so that is what I will be going by.

The articles are going to be about stuff that normal tweens are interested in.

I thought that I would write my first article about a teen pop star, Miley Cyrus.  Most people are loving her and think that she is absolutely awesome, but there are some that are not so happy with her.  She has sold out faster than the speed of light. Her television show is very popular, but she has made some not so terrific choices.  She took a picture with nothing on, but a sheet.  She has pictures with her pants or her shirt down.  Believe it or not, a lot of people are backing her up and saying that it was a very natural picture and from what I have heard, so are her parents.  She apologized, but how do we know that she will have anything on, next time.  We don't want her to become the next Brittany Spears, but will she remember how many moms and fans were disappointed in her?  I want to hear your opinion on this subject, so please comment!

Stick with this Salthawk Kid...you seem to have your act together about good and bad choices...It is sad to see someone like Miley (and/or her parents) not be able to stand up against the pressures of the world. Understandably those pressures for young stars are very grand with $$$$$ and fame. It takes confidence in who you are, and strong character to not sell out to those pressures. Thanks for giving hope to young people in making the right choices. You seem very mature in your thinking for 11. Keep writing I may become your biggest fan!

Do you think Moms and fans being disappointed will really have any affect on how she responds? I really don't think so. She, and it sounds like her parents, did it for one reason, MONEY and they got it. If the Moms and fans are disappointed enough to start costing her and her parents money hopefully she will respond in a manner to get those fans back. If not she'll end up like Brittany.
Hey, Salthawk Kid nice article we will all be waiting for your next one.

I actually saw the footage of the photo shoot and she does have clothes on under the sheet. I really don't see the big deal. It's not like any kids would have bought a Vanity Fair magazine so it wouldn't have been a big deal if the media wouldn't have blown it up. When she was on the CMT award show she had on a dress that was almost backless and no one said anything about that. I think it's 90% media that blows things way out of control. I think that she's a good kid and has great parents that look out for her. I know that your a good kid too and no matter what person you are listening to or watching on TV you know what is right and what is wrong and your going to follow your heart and not what you see someone do on TV. Love your article by the way!!!!

I agree. shes sold out so fast and most kids put their hopes in what she does. Miley Cyrus really has to understand that every action she makes influences thousands of kids. she has a huge responsibilty in being a teen pop star and there will be rebounds on a national level if she screws up even once. i also agree that the media blows everything way out of proportion. theyll do anything to get a good story and theyre looking for her to screw up once so they can tear her down and make a story out of it.
as for the picture she took. im going to disagree. shes not exposed really at all. it just shows her bare back. some girls go to prom with open back dresses that show more then what that picture shows. maybe she'll realize not to get involved in that kind of media or it could ruin her career and her reputation among the kids in our nation.

I think it is another idol for the girls to look up to, however, what she has done is wrong. How many young girls thiink if it is ok for her, it is ok for me? She is not being a role model and making bad choices.
