Diamond W Wranglers at the Fox Theatre PDF Print E-mail
By Patsy Terrell
Friday, 10 October 2008

The Diamond W Wranglers are playing at the Fox on Oct. 26 at 7 p.m. They used to be the Prairie Rose Wranglers, and these guys are GREAT. They just won a major award and are now playing at Cowtown regularly. However, we have a chance to see them in Hutch at the Fox.

Tickets are a bargain at only $10. I am going. I thought it would be fun to get a group together. Anyone else interested?

I'm a big believer in taking advantage of cool things in our own backyard. In Hutchinson we have a restaurant that's listed in some national guidebooks, and I still run into people who've never been there - Roy's BBQ.

Pretty Prairie Rodeo: July 16-19 PDF Print E-mail

When I was a kid one of my favorite things we did every year was go to this big rodeo in Sikeston, Missouri. Everyone in my family rode horses, but we just rode - no tricks, nothing fancy. Going to the rodeo is an event, and if you've never been to one, you should give it a try. It's good to venture out of our comfort zones sometimes. We've got a really big rodeo - the biggest Nighttime one in Kansas - happening in our own backyard. Tickets are $5 to $15.

Go to Dillon Nature Center PDF Print E-mail

Dillon Nature Center is 100 acres, with more than 3 miles of trails that wind through prairie and woods, past ponds and marshes. Some of the trails are paved and some are more natural. It's a National Urban Wildlife Sanctuary, and lives up to that designation. You'll see turtles, ducks and who knows what else on a walk there.

You can fish in the pond, have a picnic on the grounds, or check out the visitor's center with a whole collection of critters. You think you're too old to watch the bees? I think not. Some things are just always cool, and that's one of them.
