I'm a Christmas fanatic. Yes, I'm one of "those" people who starts shopping for the next year on Dec. 26, sends hundreds of cards, writes the dreaded Christmas letter and decorates everything that doesn't move - and some things that do - in my house. I offer this disclosure in case anyone calls my motives into question.

Cool things just happen in life sometimes. It's one of the reasons tohaul out of bed every morning - something really cool could drop intoyour world well before 10 a.m. You just never know.

Friday night a Boston cabaret singer, Gail Gallagher, is performing forfree at the Hutchinson Art Center and this is the result of one ofthose cool things.

Tonight Greg and I made a late night trip to the Dairy Queen on Third. It has become a seasonal ritual to go get ice cream occasionally and sit at the bright red picnic tables enjoying the summer evening air.

This is one of my favorite quotes. The message can be boiled down into five words. “Do Good. Be Kind. Now.” Such a simple concept, but a tall order.
