What is RSS?

RSS stands for "Really Simple Syndication" or "Ralph Silly String". Organized for easy reading for a computer program, it distributes What's Up Hutch headlines, and articles.

 

What problem does RSS solve?

You will no longer get in trouble with your boss because you keep checking a website to see if there is new content. With RSS, you can be notified of new and changed content. IT comes to you.

 

How do I subscribe to an RSS feed?

There are lots of different options on how to subscribe to an RSS feed. 

On a Blackberry?

Download Viigo.Viigo is a wonderful free offline RSS reader.
To add on of the What's Up Hutch feeds to your Viigo feeds, you want to Add a New Channel, it will ask you what type of channel you want to add.  Select RSS Channel. It will then as you to enter the RSS URL. The RSS URL for What's Up Hutch is "http://feeds.feedburner.com/whatsuphutch". By entering that URL without the quotes - you are now subscribed to the What's Up Hutch RSS Feed. 

 

Do you use iGoogle? 

To add a feed to your iGoogle home page, you can go to the url of the feed. http://feeds.feedburner.com/whatsuphutch, and at the top where it says "Subscribe to this Feed using:" Select Google in the drop down box, and click the Subscribe Now button. You will then have the option to add it to Your Google homepage or to Google Reader.
