Just wanted to share an experience with you that really made me think we all need to stop and appreciate the teachers and educators of our children and grandchildren a whole bunch. I have always respected them and for several reasons. First of all, I wanted to be a teacher. I was enrolled at Concordia Teachers College in Seward, Nebraska to be an English teacher and then backed out and went to business college instead but lots of my friends went on to be great teachers.
The 2nd Annual Crossroads of America Bike Rally kicked off last night at Carl's Bar. It was freaking AWESOME. Bob and I, dedicated journalists that we are, made it out for the shindig. The inside of the bar was pushing maximum capacity the whole night. Standing room only. It's always nice to see my favorite bar pulling in that many customers.
We at What’s Up Hutch have been avid advocates of leaving the car at home and utilizing an alternative form of transportation - be it riding a bike, using public transit or walking. We’re all for it and commend anyone that can save a little gas and help the environment in the process. But there’s a behavior in some pedestrians that’s really irked me since the day I first started driving. Here’s an example of it, as happened to me just the other day:
I am writing with way more focus on generating comments that generate discussion than actually writing something all that good.
I was in a meeting two weeks ago about Bike Racks. If you read my blog here you may or may not know about Kate's Challenge. I only bring it up cause I think it is a good step in the right direction for downtown.
