Cosmosphere to Host February Explore Hutch Event PDF Print E-mail

Don’t miss out - the first Explore Hutch Event of the New Year will be hosted by the Kansas Cosmosphere and Space Center on Friday, February 12, from 6:30 – 9:30 p.m.!

 

“The Cosmosphere has planned a fun and unusual evening for guests on February 12,” said Patsy Terrell, marketing coordinator for the Cosmosphere.

 

A scavenger hunt with prizes, local artwork displays, and a chance to see future exhibit areas are just a few of the offerings. Live music, food and drink, and an interactive presentation by the Cosmosphere staff about Living in Space will also be included in the evening entertainment for only $15 per person.

 

“Community members always enjoy the monthly Explore Hutch events because they offer unique entertainment and a new look at our favorite attractions,” said Jessica Miller, coordinator of the Reno County Growth Caolition. “The Cosmosphere event will not disappoint and we’re looking forward to seeing a lot of people there for the fun.”

Choose 2 Lose with Reno County Growth Coalition PDF Print E-mail

The Reno County Growth Coalition is offering individuals the opportunity to join the Coalition’s Choose 2 Lose team. The program begins on January 26th, 2010, and is described as a fun, friendly contest designed to encourage healthy lifestyle choices and weight management.

 

For ten consecutive weeks, participants log their exercise activity on the team website. Points are awarded based on weight loss and the number of minutes exercised. Individuals achieving a certain point total will receive a prize awarded by the Hutchinson Clinic.

 

“Many businesses are participating in this program to encourage their employees to adopt healthier lifestyles and achieve their fitness goals,” said Jessica Miller, coordinator for the Reno County Growth Caolition. “The vitality team wanted to ensure that everyone in Reno County had the same opportunity and so we decided to establish a team for the community.”

The colorful leaves and the brisk morning air let us all know that autumn has come to Hutchinson, but before we are blessed with the snow and ice that is sure to follow, we should all make at least one more outdoor outing as a community.  The Reno County Growth Coalition, the Hutchinson Clinic, and Young Professionals of Reno County are sponsoring our area’s first 5k Trail and Treat Fun Run/Walk on October 31st at Carey Park. 


Explore Hutch Friday at the Harvest Farm Pumpkin Patch PDF Print E-mail

It’s almost Friday … in fact, it’s almost the second Friday of the month, which means its Explore Hutch time!

 

This month, Harvest Farm Pumpkin Patch in Turon is hosting all who want to enjoy picking their own pumpkin, eating smores, going on a hayrack ride, or shooting a pumpkin ½ mile out of a cannon! Assuming the weather cooperates, the fun begins at 6 p.m. You’ll want to be there within the 6 o’clock hour b/c it starts getting dark around 8 p.m. and it could be a bit hard to find your pumpkin in the dark. The event will last til 9 p.m. and some activities are inside the buildings.

Unless it’s pouring rain, the animals will be out, the train ready for passengers, and live music playing tomorrow night at 7 p.m. That’s right – it’s Explore Hutch night and this month’s event is happening at the Hutchinson Zoo. More information here

 Tickets are $5 per person. Children under 2 are free. 
Purchase tickets beforehand at the Zoo or when you arrive. 
You can also purchase online. All proceeds benefit the Zoo.
