The Sam & Morgan Movie Diary

sam_and_morgan.jpgHi-dee-ho, neighbor! We are Sam and Morgan, a fun, loving, easy spirited, blessed couple, living right here in glorious Hutchinson, Kansas, USA. Aside from our jobs and our hobbies, we like to watch movies. We have everything in common, except for what types of movies we prefer.

Sam likes: My favorite genres are comedy, and family movies. I also like to dive into a good adventure flick every once in a while. Some of my all time favorite movies are; The Goonies, Disney’s Sword in the Stone, Rocky, and Think Big. The latter title is one of the most epic B movies around.

Morgan likes: I dig horror/thrillers and slap-stick comedy…also the occasional drama or musical. My faves include: Poltergeist, Corky Romano, 1408, White Chicks, Walk The Line, Step Brothers, Newsies, and Amityville Horror.

The purpose of our blog is to review movies that are current, not so current, whatever we want to see…and the request line is open.  Each of us will deliver our own perspective on what we watch. We will also rate each movie on a 1 to 10 Cheeto ® scale (yes, the fantastical crunchy, cheesy, orange snack)…(we know that this doesn’t make any sense at all).

We take full advantage of our Netflix account. If you don’t have the program, it is worth to give it a trial. The first month is free, so what do you have to lose? (www.netflix.com) One of the more recent titles at the top of our queue was the hit movie of the holiday season, ‘Marley and Me’. The movie stars Owen Wilson and Jennifer Aniston. Without giving too much away, the movie takes you through the entire life of a troublesome dog. Wilson and Aniston are both column writers for local newspapers, and Wilson begins writing about his life with his dog Marley.

The title of the movie really needs no explanation at all. Friday the 13th. Basically, it’s a rehashed version of the first installment from 1980. You know the machete wielding, hockey masked, over-muscular, slow running but can always catch you killing machine! The remake doesn’t have any actors of notability, if you must know who is in it, chigity check the internet movie database linky: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0758746/ .

We recently went to the Mall 8 theaters to see ‘He’s Just Not That Into You’. A romantic comedy with big star power; Ben Affleck, Jennifer Aniston, Scarlett Johansson, Justin Long, Drew Barrymore, Bradley Cooper and the main actress Ginnifer Goodwin.  This movie is based off of a self help book, written by the writers of ‘Sex And The City’. The plot deals with women and men in the tail spin of dating, with all of the characters connected in some fashion.
