I hear alot of folks griping and complaining about Hutch and between my blog and this site I really want to bo something about it. if we as a group decide to raise the cool points in Hutch can't we do it. I am gonna keep this subject out of my columns here because I really think this is the perfect use of the community blogs. So.. sign up for an account, and go to town whether you actually live in Hutch any more or not. Use this community blog to tell us what you think about the town and how we can make it better. Come on do it....

I think there's plenty to do already, and plenty more room for Hutch to grow! One thing I want to see people do is to give their downtown some love... I say screw the ugly gas-guzzling corporate sector and take a walk down Main Street... plenty of people, places to eat, things to see, and you can buy almost everything you could get at your local Wallzoomart... save the gas & give our local economy some looove.

Hey, Salthawk Student - this is great! There are jobs available - Contact the Chamber of Commerce! They had a job fair recently and could lead you! Also I would be glad to talk to you and give you some assistance also. I know it's tough sometimes but asking places like this and contacting the right people, putting together a good resume' is exactly what you should be doing. Come back on "whatsuphutch" if the chamber can't help you and I'll be there for you - so will others - Hutch is a great place for kids to work!Keep in touch!

I want people flying in here offering Salthawk Student a job or an interview or ideas on where to look. They are out there Salthawk Student give us whatsuphutch.com users a day or two and do your part by checking with the Chamber of Commerce (call them, ask for Holly Schmidt, she is awesome)and we will get you closer to having a job.

Just do your part and we will do all we can to help.

Or all of the adults and business owners in Hutch could just sit back and bitch that "Kids these days" Don't go out and look for ... Salthawk Kid is right here looking. Help!!!!

Salthawk Student, If by the end of next week you don't have an interview... call 6208604237 and ask for Cody. We will figure this out. If you don't do your part and call the chamber and/or follow up on the leads you get here... You are just one of those "Kids These Days" that feeds stupid sterotypes!!

I think Hutch could use a hang out. Not like a club with a bar. but like another metro. Kids go to metro all the time but metro is small and its just couches. What about somewhere that kids could go to and play ping-pong or air hockey or some games like that. A place that had some couches and a few tables if someone wanted to read or work on homework. It could be like a community party room safe from the alcohol. To help support the costs the room could be rented out or a snack bar could be added or tshirts could be advertised and donations could be made. If someone knew of a location, I wouldn't be surprised if teens and kids offered to help out and get the place going. It'd offer a few more summer jobs for kids and a great AND safe environment for kids to have fun.

ive had my share of riding around in a car pointlessly looking for something to do. Metro's pretty nice when you want to go and sit with some coffee, maybe put a puzzle together or on fridays and saturdays go watch a show. but what about a place after school? in my personal opinion, i wouldnt want another Boys and Girl Club. environment is everything for me and B&G club just isnt what im looking for..especially when im going into my Senior year of high school.
i want something for todays generation of teens where they like where they are. somewhere where the halls dont look clean like a hospital. its just a place that looks like it was remodeled from a big garage or something. doesnt really have to have a schedule of events. just things to do whenever you want to take part in it. maybe a stage too for local bands. its a bit of a dream but i wish it could be put into place.
Hutch doesnt seem to be growing. what if everyday was like the Chili feed where people are lining downtown and visiting all the places we have there and people are walking the streets enjoying their time.

That's the idea. somewhere to sit and have a soda or a smoothie if u want. A few things around if you want to play a game. Something to do that maybe isn't just sitting around. it could be an old barn for all i car. Somewhere that ppl could go to hang out. Like i said, air hockey or fooseball or other games like that would be cool to have. i think the stage idea is sweet. metro seems to have luck with that, maybe itd be a good place for bands to show what they've got.

I am so glad I am not the only one who feels there should be a place for the teen to hang oou. I have been looking around town for a way to get something started. I do think if there was a safe [place for teens to hang out and have some options, there would be less kids in trouble. Summer for example, I have a teenager who has NOTHING to do but hang out with friends. Personally I do not trust other peoples homes and would feel alot safer if she wa at a cener where others were and there was supervision. Not a babysitter, ust older teens/adults who could look out for the, I would be the first in line to help out the kids!
