What's is WhatsUpHutch.com ??
It's very simple, we are a Hutchinson, KS online magazine. OK, go back and read it again. We are a magazine, not a News source!!
We
have links at the bottom of every page to a News Source. We will
provide you with information and opinions but don't come to us wanting
to know when election day is or to check out the property value of your
neighbor's house.
It all started because
we thought Hutchinson, KS really was cool enough (not the coolest ever,
just cool enough) to have a magazine, a place for discussion, a place
to share thoughts and opinions, a place to find out SOME of the cool
stuff that just happened and maybe get a heads up on SOME cool stuff to
come. Notice we said SOME we are not gonna be a complete source of
everything Hutch. We are gonna be a cool source for SOME things Hutch.
Here's a little run down of what is available.
The menu is toward the top.
1. Reads
is the first option - This is opinions/columns/letters to the editor,
whatever you want to call it. We will have some regular columnists
here, as well as guest columnists and a place for you to write in if
you have something to say. Each one will have a place for comments. We
will deal with comments at the bottom of this page, but quickly, the
rule on comments is don't let anonymity give you a horrible personality
you would have or let out in real life.
2. Channels
is next - Channels is where you can learn something. Or teach
something!! We are starting out with 1 channel: Tech Tips. We will add
more!! Send suggestions if you dare. We have some in mind, just don't
want to overextend ourselves.
Tech tips will be all
about things everyday people can do to adopt a little technology in
there lives. It will not be high speed millionaire jet set tech things.
It will be things anyone with a cell phone or a computer can do to help
themselves be just a little more productive or entertained or ...
entertaining. More Channels to come, we promise. Again, comments there,
don't be a jacka%$!
3. Do This!
is the next menu option - Do this! is our staff's and hopefully our
reader's suggestions on what you can do in the very immediate future.
It is not a listing of everything you could do, it is a suggestion from
us. That's it!! We do promise, no one will ever be able to pay us to
put their event in there.
4. Community Blog
is next in line - if you sign up to be a member, (free and always will
be, no spam and we will protect your info) you can submit your own blog
post to feed the community blog. We realize exactly what we are opening
ourselves up to. We will edit it, if need be. PLEASE Remember this is
our site, we want a lot of free open discussion, but we will not
tolerate crap we all know is out of line, off topic, vulgar or just spam.
5. Contact Us - If we need to explain that, you probably shouldn't have the power of the Internet at your fingertips.
6. About WUH? - Big Red Dot saying, "YOU ARE HERE!"
OK That's all the menu options on top... Still with us?? Let's move on...
Right
below the menu on the left side is a local ad - we gotta make some $$$$
- we promise the ad space we have now will be the only ad space we ever
have. Hopefully!?!?!
Right below the
menu on the right is the place you log-in or become a member. Lot's of
stuff to do in there. Try it. You can always quit if it is too much
work for you.
Right below those things is 2 modules full of fun stuff:
On the left you have:
Pic
of the week - If this website works it will grow to be pic of the day;
we just want cool Hutch pics here. We have a stockpile, and will
continuing to expand it, but you can submit pics as well. Just click
here!
Video of the week - Same as pics, except to submit, click here!
Buy
this - This is a cool little module where we show you cool things you
can buy on Amazon. No pressure, just suggestions. We get a 4% cut if
you buy after clicking through our site, just so you know.
Don't Be Bored - This is our staff picked, next coolest thing to go do in Hutch. Kinda like Do This!!! But kinda different!!
On The Right you have:
Latest Columns - Again, if that doesn't make sense to you, slowly turn the computer and go get some Play-doh!
Tech
Tip - This will be a different tech tip from the column. We are gonna
try and change it daily, no promises. Again, our tech tips are for the
everyday Joe in Hutchinson, KS. If you are a bad ass techie nerd, don't
degrade our tips; they aren't for you.
Do Gooders.
- This is a place for non-profits to state their case, ask for
volunteers, tell you about a fund-raiser, just have a voice.
Our Survey
- We will put a survey there. Sometimes fun, sometimes serious,
sometimes with prizes or consequences. Never, ever, ever, scientific.
Ok, if you are still reading this, obviously you must think the rest of our website sucks, but we will keep typing.

that is a national ad. We don't really know if we are gonna keep those.
At the very bottom is another National
Ad, Our RSS feeds (if you don't know what RSS is we will cover it in a
Tech Column or just click here. ) and then we feed in the latest headlines from the Hutch News.
Comments: There is places to leave comments all over the place, if you don't show some human decency and respect, we will delete you, period!!
